The Russian, Turkish and Iranian foreign ministers reviewed the situation on the ground in Syria's Idlib and reiterated their commitment to launching a constitutional committee as soon as possible, during a trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Iran Press- Middle East/  The Russian foreign ministry in a statement issued on Thursday, said: "During the meeting a detailed discussion of the situation on the ground was held, primarily in Idlib deescalation zone."

The statement added: "Participants at the meeting expressed their appreciation of the agreements reached in Sochi on September 17 on the stabilization of the situation in Idlib," Sputnik reported.

Also, Iran has welcomed an agreement between Russian and Turkish presidents reached at the Sochi summit on Monday, in relation to the Syrian city of Idlib, hoping the agreement would lead to a good result for Idlib.

They also reiterated their commitment, the statement added, to speed up efforts to launch a constitutional committee based on the decision of the Congress of National Dialogue and resolution 2254.

Hundreds of terrorists and their families were recently evacuated from southern Syria and lodged in the northwest of the country, in Idlib province.

More than 330,000 people have been killed in Syria and millions have been driven from their homes since the conflict began in March 2011, and the infrastructure of the country destroyed.

Meanwhile, Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday held a meeting with his Omani counterpart.

According to Iranian Foreign Ministry's official website, during the talks, the two diplomats discussed bilateral relations and regional issues including the latest developments in Yemen and Iraq.
