US admits role in Iran unrests

US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook admitted that Washington had a role in recent riots in Iran over the petrol price rise by providing communication means and shortcuts.

Iran PressAmerica: Speaking with BBC Persian TV on Thursday, the senior policy advisor to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the US has given means so that rioters could skirt Internet limitations and communicate with each other.

For one and half years, Hook said, the US has sent to Iran the means so that pictures of riots could be sent abroad.

Replying to a question that Iranian officials blame the US for leading the unrests, he expressed satisfaction and said he was happy to see that an Iranian protestor tore down an anti-US banner.

The rioters misused public disagreement with the price hike and resorted to illegal and violent acts of setting on fire banks and cars and blocking the streets.
