Yerevan interested in boosting electricity cooperation with Tehran

Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia expressed his country’s willingness to increase the level of cooperation with Iran in the power and electricity-generation sector.

Iran Press/Iran news: During a visit to the 19th Iran International Electricity Exhibition in Tehran, Suren Papikyan said that his country had maintained good relations with Iranian companies in the power and electricity-generation field and is interested in boosting relations further, in a broader area.

Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia who is scheduled to hold meetings with Iranian power officials on Saturday, expressed hope the talks would result in the signing of good agreements, further strengthening cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan.

According to an Iran Press, Papikyan said: "Armenian companies welcome participating in the 20th Iran International Electricity Exhibition."

Referring to the synchronization of the Iran-Iraq electricity network, Papikyan said: "Armenia has also good economic relations with Iraq, and the process is still developing."

Iran and Armenia have been cooperating for years in the gas and electricity sector, with Iran exporting electricity and natural gas to Armenia. Two-way economic and political ties have grown gradually between Tehran and Yerevan.

Like Armenia which is a bridge for connecting Iran to Georgia and Eurasian Economic Union states, Iran is also considered a bridge connecting Armenia to Iraq and other regional countries. 101/211/207
