Tehran (IP) - Head of Iranian Space Agency (ISA) noted that many foreign investors and space enthusiasts have shown an interest in traveling and investing in Iran because some geographical locations in Iran look uncannily like the surface of other planets.

Iran Press/Iran news: "During the last year meetings were held to evaluate the importance of foreign investments in space tourism, many foreign investors have shown their interest to invest in Iran given that some locations in Iran look uncannily like the surface of other planets," Morteza Barari said. 

The head of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA) said this remarks in an interview with Iran Press on the sidelines of a signing ceremony between Iran's Space Agency and Qeshm Free Trade Zone Organization, to develop a Space Tourism Area on Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf.

Barari highlighted the beauty, attractiveness, and the perfectly clear night skies of Iran, ideal for those who are into star-gazing, astronomy, space science and space tourism from all over the world.

Morteza Barari expressed hope that the Space Tourism park in Qeshm Island would soon become operational and open to the general public.

The official underscored that four Space Tourism Parks are going to be officially opened in the two-year period 2020 - 2022 at a global level, adding: "And we hope Iran is one of them."

Barari said: "Space Tourism Park will attract both Iranian and foreign tourists, and will serve as a bedrock for boosting Iran's tourism sector." 

Iranian Space Agency and Qeshm Free Zone Organization agreement-signing ceremony was held in Tehran on Saturday morning 12 October 2019. The agreement will become operational in two phases and will lead to the development of a Space Tourism Area Plan on Qeshm Island.
