The top contractor for rural electrification in Iran’s energy ministry said that the electricity of 230 villages in Iran that cannot be supplied by the national grid has been provided through solar panels.

Iran Press/Iran news: Ali Chehel Amirani added: " Solar power is mostly carried out in villages with a low number of households or having lack of access to electricity."

Chehel Amirani pointed out that 400 villages were planned to electrify this year, which is expected to be completed by year-end, Iran Press reported.

He added: "Planning in the rural electricity sector is not only about electricity, but also maintenance of network equipment, optimization and troubleshooting should be considered as well."

The official said that a total of 21 million people, around 36 percent of Iran’s population, live in rural areas across the country. 101/218
