Iran FM dismisses hypocritical offer of Pompeo to visit Tehran

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday challenged US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's hypocritical offer to interview Iranian journalists, urging him to be responsive to Iranian reporters' serious questions.

Iran Press/Iran news: Zarif wrote on Twitter that Pompeo, instead of making empty and disingenuous offers, can accept any of the many requests from Iranian reporters to interview US officials.

Zarif has also said if US secretary of state is really open to talking, he should grant visas to Iranian journalists so they can interview him on his home turf.

Iran's top diplomat added that the US President and Secretary of State have to explain why they have distorted the historical name of the Persian Gulf to grovel their puppet governments in the region.

In an interview with Bloomberg Network, Mike Pompeo claimed last Friday that he wanted to travel to Tehran to speak to the Iranian people about Donald Trump's foreign policy.

This is while, the Trump administration has unilaterally withdrawn from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action JCPOA and has reimposed its sanctions against Iran, pursuing a policy of maximum pressure on the Iranian Nation.
