Commander of the Iranian Navy, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said Iran and Russia signed an agreement on military cooperation on Monday.

Iran Press/Iran News: Navy Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi that took part in an military maritime event in St. Petersburg in celebration of Russia’s Navy Day in an interview with IRNA said: "On behalf of the armed forces of Iran, an agreement was signed between the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Ministry of Defense."

Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi expresses that, the goal of signing a military agreement with Russia is to expand bilateral military cooperation, it is for the first time such an agreement is signed between the two countries which are a milestone in military cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.

The Iranian top commander emphasized: "According to the agreement, Iran and Russia will conduct military exercises in the near future in the Indian Ocean region."

Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi in St. Petersburg met with Commander of the Russian Army Navy, Nikolai Yevmenov, and discussed Maintaining the security of the Caspian Sea by the littoral countries of the sea.  205/217
