Iran Press/Iran news: Morteza Barari, head of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA) said on a TV show on Saturday that "Establishment and development of satellite infrastructure is one of the priorities of the Iranian Space Agency, and in this regard, the contract for the construction of a satellite with 40 meters' resolution was assigned to Amir Kabir University of Technology."
According to Iran Press, head of the Iranian Space Agency added that the satellite was built by Amir Kabir University experts who tested it successfully, and it will be delivered to the Defense Ministry within a few weeks for launching.
Pointing to the application of monitoring satellite, Barari said that this kind of satellites are used in environmental issues, disaster management, and agricultural development, adding that monitoring of agricultural land and agricultural crop health will be the most important applications of this satellite.
Head of the Iranian Space Agency further referred to Iranian scientific ranking in the region and said "We are ranked first in the region; in 2016, Iran ranked 14th in the world in space engineering, rising to 11th in 2017, and hopefully this scientific position will lead to the power of technology and industrial and economic achievements.
Earlier in October Barari announced that three Iranian domestically-made satellites will launch into space during the current Iranian calendar year (to be ended on March 20, 2019.
The Dousti satellite of the Sharif University of Technology, Payam of the Amirkabir University and the Nahid-1 are completed and the three satellites are ready to be launched into space.
Dousti and Nahid-1 will be placed into the orbit at 500 kilometers above the earth’s surface while Payam will be placed into the orbit at 500 kilometers above the earth’s surface, he announced.
