Rouhani: "From a political perspective, Iran has roundly defeated the United States"
Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, in a major speech at Tehran university on Sunday, has said if we look objectively and impartially at world events for the past few months, we'll see that from a political perspective, the Americans have been roundly defeated by the Islamic republic of Iran -- a prominent example of which is America's illegal withdrawal from the nuclear deal (JCPOA).
Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, speaking to a packed lecture theater at the Allameh Amini lecture hall at Tehran university on Sunday morning, in a speech marking the start of the new 2018-19 academic year in universities and research institutes, president Rouhani emphasized that he is well aware of the economic problems faced by the country, and that he continually checks and monitors the prices of all essential goods.
President Rouhani pointedly added: "I am well aware of the economic difficulties we are now facing, but the important thing is not to surrender and not to give up, to have hope in the future. We will pass through this difficult stage if we are united and speak with one voice."
Long-standing US hostility towards Iran
President Rouhani pointedly added: "In the past 40 years, such obstinate and venomous hostility has been unprecedented from any American administration, even though all previous US administrations have been hostile towards Iran, but none has been as hostile as the current administration."
He poignantly added: "The Americans haven't waited for 4th November to slap more sanctions on Iran. They have put in place all the sanctions they wanted as early as September or even before!! Thus, we shouldn't be worried about 4th November. All the sanctions have already been imposed. But we will get through this difficult period, we shall defeat the sanctions, we shall defeat the US."
Elsewhere in his remarks president Rouhani said: "The US is carrying out a media and psychological war against Iran, as well as an economic war. They want to portray the Iranian government as illegitimate and inefficient, and from now on they will concentrate on this point. They want to portray the Islamic Republic and the Iranian government as 'illegitimate', because they want 'regime change'. But we will defeat them through our unity and solidarity. We will put behind us this difficult stage, and by doing so, we shall defeat America."
