Two day-long meeting of senior national security officials of five countries of the region, started in Tehran on Wednesday.

Iran Press/Irannews: At the one-day ‘Regional Security Dialogue’ meeting, ways to fighting terrorism, extremism and new threats posed by the phenomena in West Asia will be discussed.

The participants at the meeting who are national security secretaries and advisors of Iran, Russia, China, India and Afghanistan, will also hold bilateral meetings and talks, Iran Press reported.

The current situation in Afghanistan and issues relating to the Taliban will be discussed at the multilateral meeting in Tehran.

The security officials are also expected to hold separate bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event.

Keyvan Khosravi, a spokesman for the supreme national security council of Iran hoped that the meeting would initiate the process of building regional contributions in relation to security challenges and bring back peace and prosperity to regional countries worst affected by terrorism.
