Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh has stressed that his country seeks energy security via regional cooperation.

Iran Press/Iran news: Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh who was speaking at the Russian Energy Week forum at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall in Moscow said Iran's role in providing energy security for the world in 'undeniable'.

Zangeneh pointedly added: "I urge all countries not to accept the unilateral and illegal actions of the United States in the oil and gas industry," Iran Press reported.

Zangeneh also praised his Russian counterpart, Energy Minister Alexander Novak, who has organized the forum, saying: "Medium-term and long-term increase in demand for natural gas  and international cooperation to develop the Gas industry are topics of serious discussion and study at this forum."

In further remarks, Zangeneh said studies predict that by 2040 a quarter of the world's total energy needs will be met by natural gas, with an expected 1.5 percent average growth in demand for natural gas per year, taking into account environmental considerations.

Zangeneh said much of this increasing demand is to do with increasing production of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

Iran's oil minister added: "To meet this increasing demand we need more investment in the oil and gas industry, technology transfer, and better infrastructure for commerce and trade."

America's Economic Terrorism against Iran

Turning to America's unilateral sanctions against Iran, Zangeneh said: "I believe the global energy industry should be depoliticized, and economic and business logic should replace political considerations. We need a multilateral approach, cooperation, and joint projects."

"America's unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the imposition of secondary and extraterritorial sanctions by the Trump administration are clear instances of economic terrorism, and a gross violation of international law. These unilateral sanctions are targeting ordinary people," he said.

Iran Ready to Transfer Expertise in Natural Gas Industry

In further comments, the Iranian oil minister said: "Iran is ready to transfer its valuable experience and expertise in the natural gas industry to other less-developed countries. This is another cornerstone of Iran's policy."

"Despite US hostilities, Iran has increased its natural gas production to 750 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. Iran possesses 17 percent of the world's proven natural gas reserves, and given that fact, Iran's role in providing energy security for the world is undeniable and plain to see," he added.

The goal of the Russian Energy Week forum is to demonstrate the prospects of the Russian fuel and energy sector and realize the potential for international cooperation.

Concurrent with the Russian Energy Week forum, a Gas Exporting Countries Forum (known as gas OPEC ) is also being held in Moscow, Russia, and Iran's oil minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh is expected to deliver a keynote speech at that forum as well. 101/211
