Tehran, Moscow to continue anti-terror cooperation

Russian Defense Minister said Iran and Russia will continue fighting against international terrorism.

Iran Press/ Europe: Referring to Iran-Russia cooperation in resolving Syrian issue, Sergey Shoygu said cooperation within the format of Astana talks play a major role in establishing truce and normalization of the situation in Syria.

Shoygu made the remarks Thursday in a meeting with Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami, IRNA reported.

Russian Defense Minister sympathized with victims of the recent deadly floods in Iranian provinces and pointed to Russian humanitarian aid to Iranian flood-hit survivors.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Shoygu offered Hatami to discuss and to evaluate the most important issues as regard military relations between Iran and Russia over the last few years.

Addressing the annual Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS) earlier, Hatami said the conference has focused on the most important security challenges by recognizing the sensitive international conditions. Hatami criticized Western countries' policies, saying the Persian Gulf region, and specifically, its southern part has turned into an arsenal of weapons for some states interests.

The annual Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS) kicked off on Wednesday in the presence of defense delegations from 80 countries.

Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami and UN Undersecretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Francois attended the conference.

In addition to defense ministers and military experts, representatives of international organizations and NGOs advocating international peace and security were present in the conference.

The topics of the MCIS included peace-keeping issues, military cooperation, and regional security in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. 104
