Federal prosecutors in New York in the US have charged three Iranians with what they called exporting carbon fiber to Iran from the United States.

Iran Press/America: US attorney for the Southern District of New York, Geoffrey S. Berman announced on Tuesday the charges following the extradition of one of the three Iranians, Behzad Pourghannad, from Germany.

According to the indictment unsealed in White Plains federal court, the three defendants, operating out of Iran, acquired "many tons" of carbon fiber between 2008 and 2013 from an unidentified US broker and shipped it to Iran through third countries, NBC News reported.

US President Donald Trump announced in May that Washington was pulling out of the nuclear agreement, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which lifted nuclear-related sanctions against Tehran in exchange for restrictions on Tehran's nuclear program.

The first round of American sanctions took effect in August, targeting Iran's access to the US dollar, metals trading, coal, industrial software, and auto sector.

On Jul 14, Iranian President emphasized that the Iranian nation will never surrender to US-led pressure and sanctions, stressing that Iran is ready to negotiate if the other side returns to logic and ends its coercive measures. 101/201
