Moroccan King Mohammed VI

Moroccan King Mohammed VI has described autonomy as the best solution in dealing with " Western Sahara" issues.

Iran PressAfrica: Moroccan King, Mohammed VI reportedly reiterated that the "Sahara is Moroccan" in accordance with the approach taken by the United Nations and the UN Security Council.

"This solution is self-government in view of the seriousness and credibility of this solution, and it is the only way to settle within the framework of full respect for the sovereignty of the kingdom," the king said, Iran Press reported.

The Polisario Front was formally constituted on 10 May 1973 at Ain Bentili by several Sahrawi university students, survivors of the 1968 massacres at Zouerate and some Sahrawi men who had served in the Spanish Army.

They called themselves the Constituent Congress of the Polisario Front.

As a matter of fact, the West Sahara is considered as the main source of tensions between Morocco and the Polisario Front.

The United Nations considers the Polisario Front to be the legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people and maintains that the Sahrawis have a right to self-determination.
