Tehran (IP) - Iran received the first batch (1.5 million doses) of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine at Imam Khomeini International Airport, with the Japanese envoy to Tehran Aikawa Kazutoshi attending on Friday.

Iran PressIran News: The Japanese government announced that it had donated approximately 11 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in Japan to several countries through the COVAX, Jalal Naeli, Iran's deputy health minister for economic affairs, stated.

The next shipment includes one million and 832 thousand and 430 doses that will arrive next Friday, noted Jalal Naeli.

After a long time, DHL post service had begun cooperation with Iran to transport medicines and vaccines, he stressed.

On Thursday, the eighth consignment of COVID-19 vaccine, including 1,130,400 doses of COVID vaccine purchased by the Iranian Red Crescent Society, entered Iran.

Iranian Red Crescent Society has so far imported 9,304,800 doses of the COVID vaccine.
