Welcoming the declaration of a ceasefire between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, the Pakistani government said that lasting peace in Nagorno-Karabakh is subject to the full implementation of UN Security Council resolutions.

Iran Press/Asia: Pakistan's foreign ministry in a statement said on Saturday night that it considers the establishment of a humanitarian ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh a positive development for peace and stability in that region.

Pakistan has no diplomatic relations with Armenia and has always supported the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan held talks in Moscow on Friday, hosted by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the three sides agreed on a joint document to hold a ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh region after 10 hours of talks.

According to the agreement, a ceasefire will be established in Karabakh at 12 noon on Saturday, October 10.

It was also agreed that Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the joint mediation of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, would continue the basic negotiations with a view to reaching a peaceful agreement as soon as possible.
