Al-Kazimi meeting and Iraqi Shiite currents on security and political issues

In a meeting with Shiite leaders, the Iraqi prime minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi discussed the country's political and security issues.

Iran PressMiddle East: Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi met with leaders of Shiite groups to discuss early elections and political and security issues, Shafaq News Agency reported.

The Iraqi parliament is scheduled to approve the election law in its session tomorrow (Saturday).
There are still differences between Iraqi groups over the main provisions of this law, which has become a problem.

The last Iraqi parliamentary election was held on May 12, 2018, which was widely criticized for electoral violations and fraud.

The election eventually led to widespread street protests on October 1, which resulted in the resignation of the government of Adil Abdul-Mahdi.

Protesters also called for early parliamentary elections, which were approved by Iraqi political and parliamentary factions.
