Tehran (IP) - Iran's Health Ministry Spokesman Sima Sadat Lari said on Saturday that 2,845 new patients with COVID-19 were diagnosed and the total number of COVID-19 patients in the country reached 419,043.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at his daily COVID-19 briefing, Lari said that some 166 more Iranians have died from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours.

The health ministry spokeswoman said that the country's total COVID-19 death toll mounted to 24,118.

Some 2,845 new cases of infection with the COVID-19 were found over the past 24 hours, some 1,149 of whom have been hospitalized, Lari said.

She added that a total of 419,043 Iranians infected with the COVID-19, and some 357,632 of whom have recovered.

3,8693 of the patients are in critical conditions and are being treated in intensive care units, the spokeswoman said.

Lari added that 3,719,210 coronavirus tests have been carried out in Iran.

The official stated: "According to the latest information, the provinces of Tehran, Mazandaran, Gilan, Qom, Isfahan, Khorasan Razavi, East Azerbaijan, Kerman, North Khorasan, Semnan, Yazd, Zanjan, and Qazvin are regarded as red zones."

According to the spokeswoman, the provinces of West Azerbaijan, Alborz, Fars, Lorestan, Hormozgan, Ardabil, Bushehr, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, South Khorasan, Markazi, Ilam, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Golestan, and Khuzestan are on alert.
