Afghanistan: Eight police officers killed, four injured

Taliban attacks in eastern Nangarhar province have killed eight police officers and 4 injured.

Iran Press/Asia: Taliban militants attacked three police checkpoints in Nangarhar province on Wednesday night, killing eight police officers and wounding four others, Sputnik reported, citing security sources.

The attack took place in the Khogyani area of Nangarhar province, and Taliban members also captured three police officers.

The Taliban attack comes amid the start of peace talks between the Kabul government and the group since Saturday in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The Afghan government and the Taliban are set to discuss the ceasefire, the country's future political system, the division of power, and how to integrate the Taliban into the Afghan security forces.
