The Commander of Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as al-Hashd al-Shaabi, operation in the al-Anbar province Qassem Mosleh announced the start of the organization's security operations on the Iraqi-Syrian border to erase the remnants of the ISIS terrorist outfit.

Iran PressMiddle East: "According to the information of the Iraqi security forces, a number of areas in the al-Anbar desert are witnessing the presence of dormant ISIS cells," Mosleh said on Thursday.

The Iraqi commander stressed that the PMU forces, based on intelligence from Iraqi security forces, have launched security and military intelligence operations to counter ISIS remnants and end the presence of terrorist cells in the al-Anbar desert.

The commander of the al-Hashd al-Shaabi operation in Al-Anbar province on Tuesday visited the Iraqi-Syrian border to al-Qa'im in the al-Tanf region of Syria.

Despite the defeat of ISIS in November 2017, the remaining cells of this terrorist group still carry out terrorist operations in some parts of Iraq from time to time.
