Tehran (IP) - Pakistan’s Defense and Army Attaché in Iran Brigadier General Imran Kashif Chaudry believes that enhanced Pakistan-Iran military cooperation will have a positive impact on regional peace and stability.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking on Sunday in Tehran on the occasion of the 55th Defence Day of Pakistan, General Chaudry referred to the bilateral defense cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, saying: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is surely one of the most important neighbors of Pakistan and we accord great importance to our relations with Iran in different areas, particularly in the defense sector.”
“Defence and military cooperation between Pakistan and Iran have seen considerable improvement in recent years which can be gauged from the regular exchange of visits at various levels during the past few years,” he added.

Improvement in bilateral military ties, the Defense Attaché said, has particularly become noticeable during the tenure of incumbent Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who has visited Tehran twice since 2017. General Bagheri has also visited Islamabad from 16-17 July 2018.

Pakistan supports Iran stance on JCPOA
“We will always sincerely support the Iranian principled stance on JCPOA. In short, Pakistan and Iran have matchless commonalities that lay the foundation of a common strategic approach and I am very sure that our cooperation will increase manifolds in the future,” said General Chaudry.

Referring to the issue of Kashmir, he said: “We greatly appreciate Iranian leadership’s strong and consistent support on the issue of Kashmir.”

“We also believe that a peaceful diplomatic resolution of the Kashmir Dispute is the key to regional peace.
The Pakistani military official also urged the international community to play its role to help the Kashmiris in attaining their inalienable right to self-determination within the framework of UN resolutions.

The 55th Defence Day of Pakistan was celebrated in Tehran on Sunday with the attendance of Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tehran Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Iran’s Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces for the International Affairs Brigadier General Qadir Nezami, and various officials from different countries.
