Gorgan governor Abdolreza Dadboud and Mayor of Guangzhou Wen Guohui inked memorandum of understanding (MoU) on expanding bilateral cooperation on Sunday.

Iran press/ Asia: The agreement was signed during the trip made by Iranian delegation from Gorgan to Guangzhou.

Based on the MoU, grounds have been paved for Gorgan and Guangzhou to sign sisterhood agreement, Iran Press reported.

Deputy governor of Gorgan and its Mayor Dadboud in a meeting with Guohui underlined establishing cooperation on exchanging experiences in civil, economic, investment, training, cultural and sports management.

Guangzhou is a sprawling port city northwest of Hong Kong on the Pearl River.

Earlier on Jun 8, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani who was leading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, departed for China  to take part at the 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit focused on bilateral ties and the future of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Further more; Chinese officials have repetitively supported Iran's nuclear deal known as JCPOA.

On September 17, Chinese ambassador to Tehran said, Beijing supports JCPOA as important multilateral agreement.

Later, on September 29, Chinese Foreign Minister  also said that the 2015 nuclear agreement Iran signed with major world powers is beneficial to the entire world and must be upheld.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), reached between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries in 2015 despite US President Donald Trump's withdrawal from it.
