An Iranian Presidential aide for minorities affairs has emphasised that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the main supporter of unity within the Islamic world and Iran backs any country which fights and resists the Israeli regime.

Iran Press/Iran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Wednesday, on the margins of a conference in Tehran, Ali Younesi, a presidential aide for minorities affairs said the Islamic Republic of Iran has supported unity within the Islamic world, and has opposed the Israeli regime and its occupation of Arab lands for the past 40 years, since its inception in February 1979.

Younesi added: "The Islamic republic has worked towards Islamic unity, both during the time of Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace) and during the current Leadership of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. One of Iran's principal slogans during all these years has been 'unity of all Muslims' and Iran has wholeheartedly backed Islamic unity. Iran has also backed and cooperated with all countries which fight and resist the Israeli regime, a good example of which has been Tehran's backing for Damascus."

The Presidential aide added: "Syria has been an implacable opponent of Israel, and one of the principal countries in the Islamic resistance front, and because of this, the enemies [of Islam] started a civil war in Syria, trying to bring about regime change in Damascus. Syria's civil war was simply because it opposed the Israeli regime."

Ali Yunesi continued by saying: "Israel managed to divide Muslims and one by one persuaded Islamic countries not to join the resistance front, and instead persuaded them to oppose Iran as their main enemy. Thus, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and some other countries have openly sided with the Israeli regime, and are now opposed to Iran, instead of fighting Israel. In fact the Americans and Israelis have been relatively successful in this regard -- thus some so-called Islamic countries  are openly siding with America and Israel."

Yunesi added: "If Muslims can unite, and not show any disunity, then Israel is not a big problem. In fact the Israeli regime's existence is wholly dependent upon disunity and fragmentation within the world of Islam. Israel tries to cause rifts among Muslims for its survival. If Muslims were united, Israel is not a big problem."
