Michal Kubiak

The International Volleyball Federation, has ruled that the Captain of the Polish national volleyball team, Michal Kubiak should officially apologise to the Iranian people for the comments he has made about Iranians.

Iran Press/ Europe: The International Volleyball Federation, commonly known by the acronym FIVB, is the international governing body for all forms of volleyball. Its headquarters are located in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The disciplinary committee of FIVB in its ruling today, upheld Iran's complaint and imposed a six-match-ban on Kubiak. According to the ruling Kubiak will be disqualified from playing in the third and fourth weeks of the 2019 Nations League, and won't be allowed to play for the next six matches, Iran Press reported.

The FIVB also strongly recommended that Michal Kubiak write a personal letter of apology and apologise to the Iranian nation for his earlier comments. FIVB recommended that the letter be read out publicly in the stadium just before the Iran-Poland match begins.

In an interview after the match, the Captain of the Polish national volleyball team, Michal Kubiak, claimed that Iranians always portray themselves as innocent and a victim, but I think they are a violent and wicked people. Despite the fact that Iranians claim they are not Arabs, and call themselves Persian, but for me there is no such nationality as Iranian or Persian. For me it is a meaningless claim. Sometimes we are forced to play with Iran, but for me Iranians or Persians don't actually exist.

Following the controversial comments by the Captain of the Polish national volleyball team, Iranian Volleyball federation officially complained to the FIVB and demanded an apology from the Polish captain. 101/211
