Iran Press/Africa: Supporters of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) took to the streets in the capital Abuja on Tuesday, carrying images of the 65-year-old cleric and chanting slogans in his support.
According to Press TV, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria has called on the federal government "to listen to reason and to release Sheikh Zakzaky immediately."
Zakzaky has been detained for over two years by the State Security Service since over 300 members were killed by soldiers in December 2015. For the first two years, he was detained without trial and despite a court order for his release.
He was earlier this year finally tried by the Kaduna government for his alleged roles in the December 2015 violence which occurred after IMN members blocked a road being used by Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai. 101/202
