Judiciary Chief calls on Iranians to counteract US’ blacklisting IRGC

Iran's Judiciary Chief called on Iranian affiliated organizations on Monday to counteract US’ decision to enlist IRGC as a terrorist organization.

Iran Press/Iran news: “US’ measure is not valid among the international community but in case Americans do as decided, Iranian affiliated bodies, including the foreign ministry and Supreme National Security Council, must counteract,” Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi said in a meeting with senior judiciary officials.

US officials have confirmed that Washington is expected to designate IRGC as a foreign terrorist organization, Iran Press reported.

The decision, which could be announced as early as Monday following months of deliberation, would mark the first time that an element of a foreign state has been officially designated a terrorist entity, the Wall Street Journal reported.

US National security adviser John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have been strong proponents of the move, the officials said.

Iran has categorically slammed adding Iranian Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) to the list of terrorist groups. 104/202
