Cabinet session chaired by President Rouhani

The government has agreed to provide grants and loans to people hit by floods in some of Iran's provinces.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a cabinet session chaired by President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday field reports and operations undertaken in flood-stricken areas were presented to the cabinet.

The Council of Ministers convened and was briefed by officials and experts on various issues related to recent flooding in some provinces, Iran Press reported.

The cabinet also thanked various organizations, officials and experts for their cooperation and assistance vis-a-vis the floods.

Heavy rains triggered raging torrents of water in 25 of Iran’s 31 provinces on March 19.

The death toll from the recent flash floods across the country currently stands at 42, according to Ahmad Shojaee, the head of Iran's Forensic Medicine Organization.

The Iranian government has mobilized to help flood victims and minimize further loss of life or damage. 105/211/201
