Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jan Kubis to discuss the latest developments in the region.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jan Kubis met and held talks in Tehran on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest as well as the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, reported Iran Press.

The top diplomats stressed the importance of boosting the efforts to promote stability and security in the region. Kubis started his mission as the UN's special envoy for Lebanon in mid-February.

The meeting came just three days after Lebanese lawmaker Muhammed Khawajah stressed the sovereignty of Lebanon, saying that the Israeli regime knows that the Lebanese would never give up or forego their border rights and that Lebanon gives no concessions.

He said that Nabih Berri, Lebanon's Parliament Speaker, had told Satterfield that Lebanon's border policy was crystal clear and that his country had nothing to tell its enemy.

Negotiations on border-drawing were stopped when the US and Israeli regime rejected what was agreed upon before, IRNA reported.

David Satterfield had a trip to Beirut to help exchange views between Israeli regime officials and Lebanese authorities, but it seems that his trip was not successful, for the Israeli regime had not recognized Lebanon's rights. Lebanon stresses that any talks on border-demarcation must be supervised by UN, but the Israeli regime has rejected any UN involvement. 213/211/203
